My name is Dana Switzer and I'm an 8th grade Language Arts teacher.  I'm a proud product of Prince William County Schools.  My mother, Diane Switzer, was a Cosmetology teacher at Osbourn Park for 20 years.  My brother, Tony Switzer, is an Assistant Principal at Hylton High School.  In addition, my sister-in-law, Melanie Switzer, is  a Cosmetology teacher at Stonewall Jackson High School.  As you can see, we are definitely a family full of teachers!! 

At an early age, I was interested in reading and writing. In elementary and middle school, I always had a notebook full of my short stories and poems.   While I was a Junior at Stonewall Jackson High School, I won the Edward Lawrence Creative Writing Award.  When I was a Senior, I was also a finalist in America's Best Writing Competition. 

When I began college, I received my Associates Degree at Northern Virginia Community College.  I transferred to George Mason University and received my Bachelor's Degree in 20th century American Literature with a minor in Dramaturgy in 2003.  I continued with George Mason by receiving my Master's Degree in Secondary Education. 

I've been with Beville for six years.  I really enjoy the experience with working with 8th graders and all of the unique opportunities to not only teach them Language Arts, but to teach them life lessons as well.  I would like to be one of those teachers that students can come back to year after year and say, "Wow! You've been at Beville forever."
